What a cookie is, why it is used

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device through your browser by the websites you visit. It is used to make the site work correctly, maintain the session, remember preferences and keep usage statistics.

Beyond cookies, similar tracking technologies (local storage, pixels, SDKs) are also within the scope of this policy; in this text they are generally all referred to as "cookies".

Some cookies are mandatory and no explicit consent is sought for their use; cookies other than these become active only when you give consent (this discipline was reinforced by the Personal Data Protection Board's decision No. 2022/1358 dated 23.12.2022).

Cookie categories we use

In line with the KVKK Cookie Practices Guide, we classify cookies into four categories: mandatory, functional, performance/analytics, and targeting/advertising.

"Mandatory cookies" are necessary for the basic function of the site and cannot be disabled. The other three categories work with opt-in explicit consent; they are off by default.

Mandatory cookies

Necessary for basic functions such as session management, security, form submission, storing your cookie preference and page loading. They cannot be disabled. No explicit consent is sought; processed within the framework of KVKK Art. 5/2-c (contract performance) and Art. 5/2-f (legitimate interest).

• Session cookies: to securely maintain the visitor's session. Retention: until the browser is closed.
• Security cookies: attack prevention on form submissions (CSRF token), bot detection. Retention: end of session or at most 24 hours.
• Cookie-preference cookie: remembers your selection in the cookie panel. Retention: at most 12 months.
• Load-balancer cookies: for the distribution of site traffic. Retention: end of session.

Functional cookies

Provide user conveniences such as language selection, display preference (light/dark theme), pre-filled form fields and similar within the site. Not activated without your explicit consent.

• Language-preference cookie: remembering your chosen language on the next visit. Retention: at most 12 months.
• Display-preference cookie: remembering a visual setting (e.g. theme). Retention: at most 12 months.

Performance/analytics cookies

Measure site usage with anonymized or pseudonymised data; observations such as which pages are visited, average visit duration and error rate come from this category. The purpose is to improve content quality and user experience. Not activated without your explicit consent.

• Page-view and visit-duration measurement cookies. Retention: at most 24 months.
• Error-tracking cookies: for diagnosing site errors. Retention: at most 12 months.
• Provider: [Analytics Provider Name]. The full cookie list appears in the preference-management panel.

Targeting/advertising cookies

Used to show potentially relevant content or advertising, measure campaign impact and limit the repetition of the same advertisement. Not activated without your explicit consent. Third-party providers may be in this category.

• Retargeting cookies. Retention: at most 13 months.
• Campaign conversion-measurement cookies. Retention: at most 13 months.

First-party and third-party cookies

First-party cookies are placed directly by the domain you visit. Third-party cookies are those placed by external services used on our site (e.g. analytics, video, maps, advertising).

For third-party cookies, the relevant provider's own privacy policy applies; these providers may also process the data for their own purposes. The current list of active providers appears in the preference-management panel.

Transfer abroad: Some of our third-party cookie providers may process data abroad. This transfer takes place - on the basis of an adequacy decision, standard contract or explicit consent - within the framework of KVKK Art. 9 (as amended by Law No. 7499, in force as of 01.06.2024) and the Regulation on Transfer Abroad.

Managing cookie preferences

You can manage your cookie preferences in two ways: (1) via the preference-management panel on our site, (2) from your browser's cookie settings.

Our site's preference-management panel

You can always reach the "Manage my cookie preferences" link at the top of the page. In the panel you can grant or withdraw consent separately for each category. The consents you give are recorded (a timestamp, IP-address type and preference content are kept).

Categories for which explicit consent is not mandatory are off by default; alongside a one-click acceptance such as "Accept all", the options "Reject all" and "Manage my choices" are presented with equal visibility (in line with the discipline of Board Principle Decision 2026/347 and Board Decision 2022/1358).

Browser settings

You can also block all or some cookies from your browser's privacy settings. The cookie-setting instructions for each browser are on the following pages.

Disabling mandatory cookies may make some functions of the site unusable; in that case the site may not work as expected.

Your rights under the KVKK

For personal data processed through cookies, you can exercise your data-subject rights under Article 11 of the KVKK. For these rights and the application channels, please see the Privacy Notice and the Data-Subject Application pages.

For cookies that are active with explicit consent, you can withdraw your consent at any time; this does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal date (in line with Disclosure Communiqué Art. 5/2-h).

Policy updates

This policy is updated when the cookies used change, new providers are added or legislation changes. Significant changes are re-announced via the preference-management panel and, where necessary, renewed consent is requested.
